Warren A. Perrin, lawyer and author, was born near Erath and lives in Lafayette, Louisiana. He holds a doctorate in jurisprudence from Louisiana State University and is an attorney with the firm Perrin, Landry, deLaunay, Dartez et Ouellet. From 1994 to 2010, he chaired the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana (CODOFIL). He is founder of the Acadian Museum of Erath. He has written six books on French culture, including Une saga acadienne (2005), the first biography of the Acadian exile Beausoleil Broussard and which recounts his own efforts to obtain an apology from the Queen of England for the deportation of the Acadians, steps that led to the Royal Proclamation signed on December 9, 2003. In 1999, Mr. Perrin was made a member of the National Order of Merit of France by French President Jacques Chirac, and he received an honorary doctorate in law from Université Sainte-Anne in Nova Scotia, Canada. In 2007, Mr. Perrin was inducted into the Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame. In 2012, he was named president of the French section of the Louisiana State Bar Association.
