Originally from Rexton, New Brunswick, Sonya Malaborza made a big detour to Toronto, then Moncton, before settling a few kilometers from the village where she grew up. Reader, translator and incubator of ideas, Sonya takes pleasure in supporting authors and translators in the exercise of their profession, notably as editor for the Atlantic provinces at Éditions Prize de parole. The Midwife of Scots Bay, her translation of the bestselling novel The Birth House by Ami McKay, was published in 2020 and earned her a nomination for the Governor General's Literary Awards in the translation category and the Éloizes in 2022 in the Artist category in literature. Take root, his first collection, was published by Prize de parole in 2023.
