Rock le Bot is a unique, intense, and super-fun experience that offers young people the chance to reach the “next level” as musicians: their ability to play their instruments, but also in their ability to merge well together in a group. Each participant receives individualized support, and they learn how to work together to create a set of original music that goes beyond what they thought they were capable of. In the space of a week, we see them transform from novices to real stage beasts. We see it in the way they carry themselves on the stage…and we hear it!
In short, the goal is to give young people the authentic experience of creating music with professionalism and musicality, and to demonstrate their work at the end in a real concert.
We’re not aiming to have parents politely applaud at the end and say “that was cute;” we are there to make the audience shout “that was friggen AWESOME! and for the participants to look at each other and say, “yeah, that was!”
Past participants include P'tit Belliveau and members of his band, Peanut Butter Sunday, and Cy.
A little note regarding the style of music: It's called "Rock le Bot", and we certainly had a lot of groups that played full-on Rock n Roll, but the styles of music that we explore are wide open, and is determined mainly according to the tastes and wishes of the participants. We already had Trad, Electronica, Punk, Metal, New Wave, Country, Rap…it’s like the base of a râpure in which you can put anything!
