Rachelle Watts
Rachelle Watts (née Richard) grew up in Wedgeport but pursued her studies and lived her adult life in English. Having started writing in English, she turned to her local Acadian dialect to learn how to write and document it. Her book “’Thalie et autres histoires”, published by La Grande Marée, in collaboration with Normand Godin, is the result. The book consists of twenty short stories in Acadian French with a version in international French, as well as recordings in the authentic Wedgeport accent and a linguistic study of Acadian words and their sources.
