KUATO is an instrumental post-rock band whose “suspenseful soundscapes” (The Coast) and “slow-building compositions recall post-rock icons” (Exclaim!) like Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky, Mono, and Tortoise.
A decade ago, Kuato took strides towards redefining conceptions of what Nova Scotian Acadian music could be by releasing their seminal album, The Great Upheaval – a fully instrumental album that chronicles key moments in the history of the Acadian expulsion through cinematic movements and pummeling, explosive catharsis.
Rooted in Halifax, NS, Kuato is a sleeping giant who shall reawaken for one night only during the Congrès mondial acadien to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of The Great Upheaval.
