Jacques Surette is a 24-year-old singer-songwriter from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, in eastern Canada, with a singular way of speaking that both seduces and disconcerts with its naturalness.
Accompanied by an acoustic or electric guitar, a harmonica and sometimes a banjo, he writes lyrics that take you on a journey to his part of the world. Since his debut, he's been generating a lot of interest with his simple, touching songs. He first made a name for himself in the Maritimes, but also in Louisiana and Quebec. His show is simple yet effective, with songs in French and sometimes in English, blending to better understand the linguistic duality of his daily life. In June 2019, he released his first folk album, "Marche, marche, marche", co-produced by Lisa LeBlanc and Benoit Morier. His second album, "Jacques Surette II", released in 2020, was produced by Mike Trask and Christien Belliveau. His third album, "Conséquences", was released in November 2023. All three albums are released by Moncton's Le Grenier musique label.
