Brian J. Francis, from the Elsipogtog First Nation in New Brunswick, is an accomplished director, screenwriter and filmmaker having directed, produced and written 70 documentaries and 2 feature films which have been shown at numerous film festivals around the world as well as on CBC, Radio Canada, APTN and IFC. His film `The Sacred Sundance' is a collaboration with the OFN. His main concern is the survival of the Mi’kmaq people and their culture.

Director of the Official CMA 2024 land recognition video & First Nations relations consultantHe won the Dialogue Award from the Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick for his work bridging and bridging the gap between his Mi’kmaq people and non-Indigenous people.

The visual works, whether on screen, in painting and even his two books, are his way of sharing the spiritual messages he receives during ancient traditional ceremonies.

Brian is a Mi'kmaq knowledge keeper and his work brings people together. He is also a Mi’kmaq language interpreter and offers his translation services to the general public. He is the first interpreter of the Mi`kmaq language in the House of Commons in the Parliament of Canada.
