Music is always one of the CMA’s most anticipated programming components. In addition to performances throughout the nine days that will take place in various venues throughout the region, CMA 2024 offers 3 flagship events as the pillars of musical programming:- August 10 — Opening Day Festival — Clare, NS @ Université Sainte-Anne
- August 15 – National Acadian Day – Yarmouth, NS @ Yarmouth Airport
- August 18 – Closing Ceremony Concert – Wedgeport, NS @ Wedgeport Tuna Museum
More details on these events including performers, times, and artistic directors will be announced in the coming months.
Women's Summit
Since 1994, the Women’s Summit has been an integral part of the CMA. The event aims to mobilize Acadian and Francophone women to ensure an inclusive and non-judgmental gathering point to equip them for a healthier life. The Summit also provides an opportunity to celebrate the intergenerational transfer of traditional and modern knowledge as well as the societal change accomplished by female leadership, all while inspiring the next generation.Official registration for the Women’s Summit as part of the CMA 2024 opens this fall.
Seniors Conference
The Seniors Conference at the Congrès mondial acadien 2024 is organized over three days with five conferences, a concert and several sports and recreational activities – all in view of the Rendez-vous Acadie 50+ Caraquet, which takes place in September 2024. It will be an event focused on reflection, social gatherings, and socio-cultural activities. This Conference will act as a lead-up to les États généreaux sur le vieillissement 2025 set to take place in May 2025 in Moncton, NB. It presents five conferences and workshops that allow participants to discuss the different aspects of these State of Affairs to better define the expectations of this event.
Multidisciplinary artistic residency
In collaboration with the Société nationale de l’Acadie (SNA) and the Commission jeunesse de l’Acadie (CJA), CMA 2024 presents, for the very first time, a multidisciplinary artistic residency.Over the course of 10 days, 10 artists between the ages of 19 and 30 from all over the Acadian diaspora will meet at the CMA 2024. In addition to participating in various CMA events, the artists will be able to visit several significant Acadian sites in the host regions and other nearby sites such as the Grand Pré National Historic Site. The artists with then draw on these experiences, and these places, to create works within the framework of their own individual artistic approach. The residency will serve to create links between artists and nurture new creative projects.
Applications for the residency will open this fall.
