Photo d'Yvette d’Entremont

Singer-songwriter, playwright, producer, documentarian, Yvette d’Entremont has a passion for the arts. Hailing from West Pubnico, Nova Scotia, she is a multiple nominee: ECMA in 2006 (Mes deux souliers) and four Music Nova Scotia Awards (Prix de l’Acadie), as well as winner of the prestigious “Gala de la chanson de la Nouvelle-Écosse”. With 3 albums to her credit, Yvette has showcased her music all over the Maritimes to France, has performed with Symphony Nova Scotia, and toured with the Maritime Forces Stadacona Band.

For over 30 years, Yvette has been writing, producing and staging large-scale productions/musicals.

On the heels of the highly successful production of the internationally acclaimed French musical “Roméo et Juliette” in May of 2009 (chosen as one of the 150 most notable works of art in the last 150 years, NS), she decided to write her own musical, La voix de la mer, in 2013. The following summer, she brought her musical to Normandy, during Acadian Week. In June of 2022, she wrote and produced Nelson dormait, a musical comedy with parodied lyrics, inspired by classical music. In March 2023, Yvette released her first documentary, Raconte-moi un souvenir: a project showcasing interviews with seniors from the community (childhood memories), with re-enactments by local students. It is at this event that she was awarded the Tribute to Cultural Development Prize by la FéCANE, for her work in promoting language and culture.

She continues working on multiple projects: a novel about her late great-aunt (WW2 nurse), a musical production, “Dors, dors, p’tit bibi” (Acadian folklore), a sequel to Nelson dormait, called “L’enterrement” (the funeral), a stage play “Il était une fois un piano (Once Upon a Piano). Yvette is delighted to be co-artistic director for the closing concert, “L’au revoir” during the World Acadian Congress, as well as having the honor of presenting a new version of her musical “La voix de la mer”, for two shows on August 11th.

Yvette’s music and artistic works reflect her energy and passion, her love of life, and her warmth: she speaks from the heart, whether it be about her childhood, her people or maritime life. .
